Storm

1995 became the last year of Corrado production. A special commemorative edition, the Corrado Storm, was produced for European and British markets only. The Storm model featured special badges and Solitude BBS six-spoke wheels. The list price at the time was £21,199.

Only 500 Corrado Storms were produced:
250 were Mystic Blue, 250 were Classic Green
20 were automatics, 10 in each colour

The last production Corrado - a VR6 Storm, is now resting at the VW Auto Museum, Wolfsburg Germany.

The Storm, the final UK edition of the Classic German Sports Car. To sign off the Corrado worldwide and especially in Britain (apparently the worlds biggest export market for the super-machine) VW brought out this special edition, just five hundred of them. In typical VW style they put out a twin-page spread advert, with 80% of the top featuring a black canvas backdrop and a small Mystic Blue example at the bottom. Here's what the advert said...

It's bound to cause disappointment.

This Corrado is one of just five hundred. A Limited Edition? More a Final Edition. No more are to be made. That said, what a Final Edition: 2.9 litres and 190 bhp of pure VR6. Elsewhere, we've exercised due restraint, settling for a choice of two colours (the mystic blue shown here, and classic green, both in pearl effect), 6-spoke alloys, full leather trim and a CD player. Meanwhile, our condolences in advance to those who leave it too late. Corrado Storm.

VW Motoring, a fine UK magazine, put the following in their May 1995 issue -.

CORRADO CULMINATES IN THE STORM

Volkswagen expects no shortage of buyers for a limited edition of 500 special edition "Storm" models, produced to mark the end of the production cycle of the Corrado. The first Corrado came off the production line in August 1988 and the model quickly achieved widespread recognition as a classic in its own lifetime, but despite increasing sales total production volume has been insufficient to 'maintain its commercial viability in the modern economic climate'.

The Corrado Storm boasts a specification that amounts to the ultimate production version of this exciting model. Based on the 190 bhp Corrado VR6, and identified by red "Storm" badging on the rear and on the centre console, it features additional benefits of front seat heating, 6.5j 'Solitude' six-spoke alloys wheels, colour-coded grille and Sony front-loading CD player with digital sound processing. Echoing the special editions of the Scirocco, the Corrado Storm will be finished in classic green with a beige leather interior, or mystic blue with black leather trim. The Storm will be available from May, amongst the final production run of 1,300 Corrados for the UK.
